Just a quick reminder about our morning drop-off procedures.
First, thank you for adjusting to our new traffic pattern and using Old Leetown Road to enter the school. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work to keep arrival safe and efficient for everyone.
To ensure students are in class and ready to learn on time, please have your child dropped off by 8:25 a.m. Our school bell rings at 8:30 a.m.
If you arrive in the drop-off line at 8:30 a.m. or later, there will no longer be staff members outside to assist with arrival. At that time, you will need to park and accompany your child to the main office to sign them in for the day.

Good Morning, Ranson Families!
As we approach the end of Spirit Week, we are enjoying Pajama Day! The students are excited to wear their favorite pajamas and share in the fun with their classmates.
A reminder that tomorrow is Dress-Up/Costume Day. Students are welcome to wear their costumes to school as long as they do not:
Wear masks
Bring props or pretend weapons
Wear full face paint
These are the only costume restrictions.
Students will also participate in our Trick-the-Halls Parade. Primary and intermediate grade levels will each enjoy a 15-minute parade where they will receive candy to bring home.
Please remember to send your child with a trick-or-treat bag, small grocery bag, or similar bag to collect their treats.
We are looking forward to a fun-filled day for all of our students!

A huge thank you to all of you who attended our First Annual Fall Festival! We are excited to use a portion of the funds raised to provide scholarships for graduating high school students who attended Ranson, as well as support other school-related activities and events for our students.
As this was our very first Fall Festival, we certainly identified some areas where we can improve and make the experience even better for everyone. Reflection is one of the best ways to grow and improve, and we appreciate your feedback and support as we continue to build this event for years to come.
Overall, I could not have asked for a better turnout from our community or a more successful event. The support shown by our families, staff, and community members was truly amazing.
I would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Kittelstad for her leadership and countless hours of work organizing this event. Her dedication and attention to detail played a tremendous role in its success.
With the holiday season approaching, we look forward to celebrating together through many more exciting events and opportunities throughout the school year.

What an exciting day we have ahead of us. Today is the day of our Fall Festival, and we hope your family plans to join us for a fun-filled evening of games, hayrides, a silent auction, delicious food, Almost Heaven Frozen Custard, raffles, and much more!
In addition to all the festivities, we will be taking care of a couple of important school business items. As you arrive and enjoy your pizza, we will hold a brief REA meeting to elect new officers. If you are interested in serving as an officer, please let me know this evening. We will be electing a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
We will also be hosting our Title I meeting in Room 122. Please stop by to receive important information about our school and learn more about the programs and services that support our students.
Tonight is shaping up to be an amazing evening, and I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Sarah Kittlestad and the dedicated team of staff members who worked so hard to organize this special event for our students and families. Their commitment and enthusiasm have made this evening possible.

RES Kindergarten students celebrated the end of Unit 1 (Nursery Rhymes & Fables) by doing a Nursery Rhyme Olympics. Students did Jack Be Nimble, where they jumped over a candlestick; 1, 2, Buckle My Shoe hopscotch; Little Miss Muffet spider-crawl race; Twinkle, Twinkle, Star throw; Humpty Dumpty egg race; and Baa Baa Black Sheep bag-fill and roses/violets sort race. They ended the event with a huge game of Ring Around the Rosie.

Teachers have already sent home information about our Fall Festival, which will be held on October 22, 2026.
We are currently requesting donations from families for our grade-level baskets that will be auctioned during the Fall Festival. Each grade level has a specific basket theme and we would greatly appreciate your support.
If you are unsure of your child's basket theme or no longer have the donation letter, please contact your child's teacher for more information.
Please send all basket donations by Monday, October 19, 2026, to allow us enough time to assemble the baskets before the event.

Just a reminder that there will be no school on Monday.
On Tuesday, October 13th, we will celebrate our Pink Out Day! We invite all students to wear pink and be as creative as they would like with their outfits. This is a fun, school-wide activity that allows us to honor and recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
We hope everyone enjoys a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing our students back on Tuesday dressed in pink!

Good Afternoon Families,
Now that we are settled into our daily routines, I would like to address an area that has become challenging during our afternoon dismissal process.
At the end of each school day, our administrative assistants are working diligently to complete essential office tasks while also supporting a safe and organized dismissal. We have recently been receiving 15-20 calls each afternoon from parents requesting that messages be delivered to students or asking for last-minute changes to how their child will be going home.
While we always want to help and support our families, it can be difficult to manage these requests during our busiest time of day. There is also a risk that non-urgent messages may not reach students before dismissal.
To help ensure a smooth and safe dismissal process, we kindly ask that you discuss your child's transportation plans with them before they arrive at school each morning. Knowing in advance whether they will be riding the bus, being picked up, or attending an after-school activity will greatly assist our office staff.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. Our goal is to ensure that all students arrive home safely each day, and your support helps us make that happen.

I wanted to make you aware that our school was placed on a HOLD for about 15 minutes today due to a medical situation involving a staff member.
During a HOLD, students are expected to remain in their current location with the adults supervising them until the announcement is made that the HOLD has been lifted. While most students followed expectations, some students who were in the cafeteria at the time struggled with appropriate behavior.
I have met with the fifth-grade classes involved to review our expectations and discuss the importance of remaining calm and respectful during these situations.

As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment, Ranson Elementary will conduct an announced Lockdown Drill tomorrow before lunch. We want to provide families with advance notice so you may discuss the drill with your child if you choose.
Safety drills are an important component of our comprehensive school safety plan. Just as we practice fire drills and other emergency procedures, lockdown drills help ensure that students and staff know how to respond appropriately in the unlikely event of an emergency. These practice drills are not intended to create fear or anxiety, but rather to build confidence, preparedness, and familiarity with safety procedures.
During the drill, classroom doors will remain locked, students will move to designated locations away from doors and windows, and everyone will remain quiet until the all-clear announcement is given. Our classrooms are also equipped with window coverings that limit visibility into the room, providing an additional layer of safety. Students who have cell phones will be instructed to keep them silenced during the drill.
At the conclusion of the exercise, an announcement will be made that the drill has ended, and students will return to their normal daily schedule.
Throughout the school year, we will conduct several safety drills, including lockdown, fire, evacuation, and other emergency response drills. These opportunities allow students and staff to practice procedures in a calm, structured environment so they are prepared should a real emergency ever occur.

Friday, September 11, 2026, marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93. Patriot Day is observed each year as a day of remembrance for those who lost their lives.
As a school community, we will honor the day by inviting students to wear red, white, and blue if they would like to participate.

Just a few reminders to help ensure safe arrivals and dismissals for all students:
Parents, we know the car rider line can get long, but it is moving much more smoothly now. Please remember that all car riders should enter through Leetown Road. This helps prevent traffic from backing up onto Mildred.
We will have a police presence available to assist if traffic begins to back up.
If you need to pick up your student early and it is after 2:50 p.m., please park in the parking lot rather than the bus lane.
