Scheduling Night at Jefferson High School
JHS will present in our auditorium and cafeteria (as needed) to rising 9th grade student parents on Monday, December 13th from 6-8 for HFMS students who will attend JHS.

Dear HFMS Families,
This morning we dealt with an unfortunate threat to our school that stemmed from some social media activity yesterday evening. Since that time, our school administration has worked closely with the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department to thoroughly investigate this threat and bring it to a resolution. We have just received word that the individuals responsible for the threat have been detained by the Winchester City Police. At this time, there is no longer any threat to HFMS or any of our students. We have lifted the modified lockdown and will returning to a normal schedule as of this notice. If you have further questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at 304-535-6357 or email at evandell@k12.wv.us.
Eric R. Vandell
Principal, HFMS

Last night a social media threat was made against a HFMS student. Law enforcement was notified and investigated. A security check confirmed there is no current threat to the school. However, in an abundance of caution, we will have an increased law enforcement presence at the school. Thank you for your patience and support.

Please see the attached schedule for today.

Staffing shortages are impacting school systems across the country. For Jefferson County Schools (JCS), the shortages have significantly affected our staff time to complete critical behind-the-scenes work that goes into sustaining excellence in teaching and learning. Beginning October 15th, Jefferson County Schools will dismiss students 1/2 day every Friday. Staff will spend 3 hours completing all non-student supervision work (planning, SAT/IEP meetings, creating instructional materials, deep cleaning, etc). A full explanation of the factors leading to this change and expectations for staff in using this time can be found in the “Sustaining Excellence Plan” on the JCS website https://5il.co/101uz

Picture Retake Day is scheduled for October 18, 2021
